This week we journey through the sacred teachings of our weekly Torah portion, Parshat Metzora. While the term "metzora" is commonly associated with leprosy, in Judaism usually this sickness extends far beyond physical afflictions to encompass also the spiritual conditions that affect individuals. The purification process, for those afflicted with Tzaraat, involved a meticulous procedure that used symbolic elements such as two birds, spring water, cedar wood, a scarlet thread, and hyssop. The kohanim were responsible for lovingly helping the affected (the metzora) on a journey of restoration whenever possible.
