May 2017 Shalom Dear Friends of Netivyah, Joseph and a small group from Roeh Israel, just returned from a memorable teaching tour of the 7 Churches of Revelation in Turkey. It was the perfect end to a wonderful Passover/Unleavened Bread Holiday. We want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued upholding of Netivyah and all that God has blessed us to do here in our Beloved Israel! It would be an “impossible dream” without your support. On May 2, we will celebrate the 69th year of Israel’s independence. The day before is Memorial Day, the day…

By Joseph Shulam The Torah Portion (Parashah) this week is Ki Tisa from Exodus 30:11 – 34:35, it tells the story of the rebellion of the children of Israel at the very foot of Mount Sinai.  Moses was up on the top of Mount Sinai talking to God and receiving the Torah. The children of Israel were down at the foot of the mountain – prepared to receive the Torah – cleansed, and impatient and they ask Aaron to give them a god that will walk before them and lead them to the promised land and out of the desert. …

By Joseph Shulam – From Beijing, China I am sitting in a meeting with brothers and sisters and one of the young man who is traveling with me through Asia is actually teaching on this last hour before lunch.  I gave teaching from 8:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. It is such a wonderful pleasure to hear the young men that are traveling with me teaching the Word of God and doing such a wonderful job.  I could put these young men in any pulpit, be it in a church or a synagogue or a University class-room and know that these…

By Joseph Shulam – From Vaasa, Finland This week the City of Tel-Aviv has again experienced a bloody terrorist attack.  In renovated Sharona neighborhood that has become a kind of exclusive shopping area that is located not very far from Israel’s Ministry of Defense two 21 years old terrorists attached the peaceful public in the Max Brenner Restaurant.  Four people were killed and several were wounded in this Hamas inspired and directed terrorist attack.  The two terrorists were cousins from the village of Yata near the ancient city of Hebron.  They were young, hansom, well dressed in black suites and…

Praise the Lord we have arrived yesterday to Helsinki, Finland.  Miika the son of Dr. Tim Tucker who was one of my teachers in Nashville picked us up in the airport and took us home.  It is such a great joy to share fellowship with the young families who were raised in the Restoration Movement and are now leading.  Both Miika and Anne are the advanced stages of finishing their Ph.D’s.  They are both active in the new congregation that was formed mainly by the second generation of those who have stood with Israel and committed to the Restoration of the…

By Joseph Shulam from home This Sabbath’s reading is from Leviticus 26-27 – the last chapters of Leviticus. The reading starts in verse 3 of chapter 26; “If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments, and perform them . . .” There are 11 verses that say all the good things that are going to happen to those who keep God’s commandments.  After these blessings come 33 verses of all the bad things that are going to happen to those who don’t obey God and who go against His command and abhor His judgments.  Note that there are…

Jerusalem Prayer List May 23 2016 Joseph Shulam – From home in Israel It is nice to be at home.  It was nice to travel and teach a group of Chinese from all around Asia through the seven churches of Asia Minor.  Traveling through the Bible Lands, and Turkey is a Bible Land, is always inspirational and educational and fun.  Being in the places that you read about in the Bible is something very special.  We believe because we want to believe.  The Biblical truths are most often self evident to the soul that believes. This does not mean that…

We are in the middle of the Passover Holiday – in the Bible only the first day of the Feast is called “Passover” the rest of the 7 days of the Feast is called “The Feast of the Unleavened Bread.”  The Exodus from Egypt is the main model of salvation and redemption and deliverance throughout the whole biblical history.  In fact everything that we do as Jews and as Jewish Disciples of Yeshua the Messiah is somehow related to the Exodus.  On Friday night when we do the blessing of the “wine” and bread, the Kiddush, we do it in…

Praise God we have outgrown our old meeting place. For more than 10 years we have been struggling with legal battles and bureaucratic hurdles and in November 2012 we finally received the building permit from the Jerusalem City Hall. The building was built in the 1920’s and had no iron in the foundations or walls. Now we are strengthening the building with new standards of construction and making it earth-quake safe. The main part of the building project is the expansion of the auditorium and converting it to a typical Synagogue style. Like all the new construction in Israel we…

by Joseph Shulam from Japan Today Yuda and I had a seminar in Osaka, Japan. We were in a rented hall right in the very center of Osaka. The place was full of people and in fact people who came late could not find a place to sit down. I keep getting amazed by God’s grace and the way He can use us to share biblical teaching. I feel so inadequate to the task and to the calling which God has called me and I know that Yuda (our youth director and the director of the Soup Kitchen) feels the…

From Atlanta, Georgia, USA I just finished teaching my last session in the North Atlanta church of Christ. From Sunday evening through Wednesday evening I gave a series of teaching on the topic: Why I believe that Yeshua is the Messiah. This last night my topic changed and it was: Why I am committed to the Restoration of the First Century church. In reality when I say that I am committed to the Restoration of the First Century church – it means that I am totally not committed to anything that Christianity has produced after the First Century. In fact…

Last night late, I watched a old movie with Walter Mathau playing Albert Einstein. It was a very nice situation comedy where Einstein kept repeating the phrase “Since time doesn’t exist anymore>” Well, we are on the eve of a new decade and in a way time does and does not exist at the same time! Yes, a new year is about to burst forth and bring with it the early teens of the 21st Millennium. The biblical concept of time is very different that the normal world view of the majority of mankind. The Bible looks at time not…
