By Joseph Shulam – From Beijing, China
I am sitting in a meeting with brothers and sisters and one of the young man who is traveling with me through Asia is actually teaching on this last hour before lunch. I gave teaching from 8:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. It is such a wonderful pleasure to hear the young men that are traveling with me teaching the Word of God and doing such a wonderful job. I could put these young men in any pulpit, be it in a church or a synagogue or a University class-room and know that these young men who are a from our congregation in Jerusalem can do a great job presenting the word of God and the world of God. These two men, Teruto and Reuven, are both university students. Teruto is a master degree student in the Hebrew University. Reuven is post army and post 8 months of backpacking through central and South America. Now he is ready to work hard and settle down to study and prepare for life. I ask you to pray for the younger set of upcoming young men who are going to be the future deacons and elders of the Jerusalem community of Jewish and non-Jewish disciples of Yeshua in the city of Jerusalem and in the land of Israel. Pray for the future of Netivyah and the Roeh Israel Congregation. I sincerely believe that the future of Netivyah and the Roeh Israel congregation is much brighter from the past. In the future all the leaders and servants in Netivyah and Roeh Israel will have two eyes, not like me with only one eye. By definition they will be better leaders than me, but they still need prayer. These young men are actually raised in the Munchkins that Yuda trained and raised up. Pray for Yuda also because he needs to have God’s guidance and the anointing of the Holy Spirit in order to be the leader that God has called him to be.
I want to encourage all of our prayer partners and supporters in prayer and financial supporters to continue and increase your support to Netivyah. The way that Netivyah has and is conducting the Lord’s Work in Israel and internationally is really above board and the deep audit that was performed by the Israeli authorities on our organization passed with flying colors. Netivyah is one of the oldest ministries of Jewish believers in Yeshua in this land and it is still one of the well rooted ministry in the land and in the Jewish tradition and committed 100% to the Restoration of the First Century teaching and life-style of the disciples of Yeshua in the land of Israel. Keep us in your prayers!
The development among Christians in Asia is so amazing and stunning that it is hard to describe. This morning we entered into the place of worship and there were Chinese brothers and sisters praising and singing Israeli Hebrew songs and dancing with flags and an Israeli flag. The joy that these Chinese brothers and sisters were expressing and the energy and zeal that was overflowing made the Israeli brothers who accompany me overflow emotionally. We have been teaching two themes in Asia, the book of Leviticus and the story of King David. In China we are teaching the book of Leviticus – for most Christians the book of Leviticus is a sealed book. Very little attention is given by Christians to the book of Leviticus, and in seminaries and Christian universities the only time that Bible students meet the book of Leviticus is during O.T. Survey. Exposing these Christians to the book of Leviticus is an exceptional experience because for the first time Christians understand the wisdom of God delivered to the Levites and Priests and the importance that God’s wisdom in Leviticus to the church of the first century and today.
Netivyah has made a decision to increase the number of families that are receiving food from Hamotzi – Hamotzi is the new name given to the food distribution ministry of Netivyah. We called it “Soup-Kitchen” and than “Food Distribution” now the young leaders of Netivyah gave it the name “Hamotzi” – it is taken from the blessing that every Jew who blesses the food says before eating bread: Baruch Ata Adonai . . . Hamotzi Lehem Min Haaretz, in Enlish it is: “Blessed Our God the Creator of the Universe that “brings forth”= (Hamotzi) bread from the Earth”. The desire is to increase and add 50 new families to this food program. We do need your prayers for this project and as the Lord directs you also we need your support.
Netivyah has also increased the number of students in the Israeli universities who receive the scholarship. For more than 20 years we gave 10 scholarships to students who are achievers and who are disciples of Yeshua the Messiah. We have just increased the number to 19 students who will receive the scholarship of 2000 US dollars per year. This is a project that doesn’t concentration those who are suffering and need help, but on those who are securing the future of Disciples of the Messiah in Israel. It is a boost to be excellent and to represent our dedication and commitment to the people of Israel to our country and to our Lord. We help both Jewish and Arab students to study and invest in the future. Please pray for this fund and for the students who are receiving this stipend and help Netivyah to be able to continue this blessing in the future.
Please pray for travel graces for Reuven, Teruto, and myself. We still have 10 days to go before I return home to Jerusalem. The young man will continue their travel longer.
Every day in the last two weeks there have been staying attempts of Israeli citizens and soldiers. There were no deaths in these terror attacks on our side. Some of those knife waving terrorist were shot on the spot and died others were captured and taken for an investigation. At the same time there has been daily shelling on the Golan Heights and yesterday Israel had to use the Patriot Missile to bring down two rockets shot against Israel from the Syrian side. The situation is escalating by the day and Israel needs your prayers. Please pray for Israel’s safety and for sanity to overtake the stupidity of the Syrian terrorists and also the government forces since these rockets don’t have an address it is hard to tell which of the sides or fractions in Syria is doing this shooting.
I also ask you to pray for our dear brothers and sisters in Beijing, China. They are wonderful but like all of us they face big challenges that are not political at all, but are the same challenges that Disciples of Yeshua all around the world face. Pray for the leadership to be blessed and for their dreams to be accomplished both for the kingdom of God and for their own sake.
I received a letter from Steven Jonnson asking for prayer:: “That God bless me and my family (my dad-Bengt, my brothers-Ingemar, Inge, Lennart, my sisters-Ing-Marie, Ingrid, Monicia, Birgitta and their children and my uncle-Kent) very much in all our areas in our lives, to spirit, to soul, to body etc.” Pray for Steven’s family. It is a good deed and a blessing to present a request from a young man like Steven. I don’t know Steven in person, but I do know that we have he power to intercede and present the Lord with our sincere hearts these prayer requests for people whom we don’t know but we do know that they know that we can pray for them and hopefully God will hear our prayer and bless them. It is a privilege that we can and must use and by this confirm the oneness and unity of the Body of the Messiah.
I must say that it is a great pleasure to take these young men, students in the Hebrew University, members of our congregation in Jerusalem, and travel with them and hear and see them lead and teach with such excellence. We now have two more teachers on the list of men in the congregation who can teach with excellence and present the Word of God intelligently and with great charisma.
We have brothers and sisters who are not physically sick, but they need the hand of God’s blessing on their lives and business: Michael Knezevich in Portland, Laurel S., and please add to this prayer all those people whom you know and ask the Mighty God of Israel and Yeshua our Messiah to show their mercy and grace on these fine disciples of Yeshua. Please don’t forget our dear brother Raymond and his family in Singapore. Pray a special blessing on Raymond’s work and especially for his zeal for truth and a faithful walk with the Lord and blessing of Israel.
We pray for the following dear brothers and sisters: Pastor Curita in Tokyo, Toru San, and the husband of Yumi, Sadako San, Shoko San, Takeo Sensei and Tomoko San all in Japan.
We especially lift up before your throne of mercy Marcelo’s father and mother in Belo-Horizonte.

Also keep his family in your prayers. Yuri Marianenko is fighting a prostate cancer. Our wonderful older brothers and sisters need our prayers: Ahuvah Ben Meir, David Stern, Marcia Shulam, Sarit, Miriam, Ilana, and Leah. Pray for healing of my family Danah Shulam, Barry Shulam, and Marcia. We lift up our dear brothers and sisters Ruby, Clara, Paulo, Naomi, Tim Tucker, Anna, Anne-Mirijami, Satu-Maria, Anna-Majia, Sinni Tuuli, Erki and Sirpa, and Evelina, Eva H., Liz in Georgia, and Horace and June Marcia’s parents.
Please don’t forget to especial pray for healing and strength for our dear brother Tom from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and also in the same town pray for Bobby, and Emet, and Joe, and Gloria D., these are all very precious brothers and friends are battling serious health issues. I am adding a young four years old girls who is fighting leukemia her name is Hayden.
Especially pray for the new congregation in Vitoria, E.S., Brazil and their leadership, and for the Teaching from Zion Ministry in Brazil, and the Har Zion Congregation in Belo-Horizonte, and for the Sar EL congregation in Curitiba.
God bless you all our dear brothers and sisters, prayer partners, and financial supporters. May we all see the soon return of the Lord. This world of ours needs sorting out and cleaning up, and only the Lord God Almighty of Israel can actually do this job. May be, God willing, He will use us all to help get this job done! Just imagine and think what would have not happened if there were 10 righteous people in Sodom?
