Jerusalem Prayer List May 30, 2019
by Joseph Shulam
This shabbat we are starting the reading of the book of Numbers. The weekly reading (the parasha) is from Numbers 1:1-4:20. The reading of the prophets is from Hosea 2:1-22, and from the New Covenant the reading is from Luke 11:1-12:59.
Last Friday we ended our conference and tour in Portugal. The title of the conference was: “The Jewish Presence in Portugal: Restoring a Lost Heritage.”
This was the second international conference organized and held in the town of Castelo de Vide, Portugal. The first conference was in 2010, and it was a great success, because it was one of the first and the largest international conferences in Portugal on the topic of the Anusim (the Jews that were forced to convert to Christianity by the Catholic church’s Holy Office of the Inquisition), and if they would light candles on Friday evening or do anything that is Jewish they would be tried in the court of the Inquisition and tortured often times to death, and if they did not die from that they were burned.
The object of the first conference in 2010 was to make the world aware of the plight of the descendents of these Jews. In 1496, when the Catholic church decided to force the Jews to convert to Christianity, the number of the Jews was about 25% of the population of Portugal.
This second conference in Castelo de Vide was the first joint effort between the city hall of this town, the mayor Dr. Antonio Pita, and his office, and the former mayor Mr. Carolino Tapadejo, ABRAJIN from Brazil, the “Teaching from Zion Ministry” from Brazil, and Netivyah from Jerusalem.
The conference and prayer tour, that were held from May 17-24, were a great success. We had participants from 12 different countries, including China, Korea, Holland, Finland, Germany, Brazil, Italy, Israel, Portugal, the USA, Philippines, France. I might have forgotten some country, (sorry, it’s my age).
The speakers were both politicians and academics, and every one of the speakers was deeply emotionally involved. The comments that we received are very encouraging, and the speakers and participants were all very important.
However we also had a setback. The President of the Israeli Community of Lisbon, Gabriel Szary Steinhardt, threatened to issue a “herem” (ban) on some of our important speakers if they would participate in this conference.
This is a kind of reverse BDS. The enemies of Israel, starting with some Christian “Palestinian” leaders, issued a ban on Israel, Israeli products, Israeli academics, and generally-speaking on Israel. Now we have a Jew, an Israeli, threatening to do something similar to other Jews if they participate in a conference that the only goal of which was to encourage the Aliyah (immigration) of millions of hidden Jews spread around the whole world, back home to Israel.
Sometimes my Jewish brothers surprise me. The Israeli ambassador to Portugal was scheduled to participate, and agreed to participate in this conference. Top academic scholars, who are the biggest experts on the topic of the Portuguese Inquisition, also agreed to take part in this conference. Important writers agreed to come and speak.
These people succumbed to the reverse BDS that Mr. Gabriel Szary Steinhardt issued. However, like we say, “Israel is not a widower.” Israel has our Father in Heaven who overrides the decrees of Pharaoh and the decrees of our enemies that sometimes come from outside, and on rare occasions come from inside.
The conference was a great success: There were over 150 participants from 12 countries. There was a parliament member from Brazil, the former president of the Jewish Community in Portugal, members of the Jewish Community in Lisbon, Jews and non-Jews who love Israel and support Israel, from European Countries and from the United States of America, scholars and teachers from Portugal and from around the world.
The return of the Anusim back home is not a question of “if they return” – it is only “when they return”. The reason that I say this is because God’s word says that they will return, and we stand on the everlasting promises of God. Yes, they will return as the prophet Obadiah says:
“The captives of Jerusalem who are in Sepharad [the Iberian Peninsula] shall possess the cities of the South [the Negev]. Then saviors shall come to Mount Zion to judge the mountains of Esau, And the kingdom shall be the Lord’s.” – Obadiah 1:20–21 [NKJV]
We are living in a time when the Lord God of Israel is again numbering the people of Israel, and every lost soul of Israel is being called back home to the land that God gave to our father Abraham. Some of these lost souls will need to be restored to Israel by conversion to Judaism. Others, who have kept their fire burning in their hearts, and their Jewish soul is panting for Zion, they will not submit to conversion because they have never left their Jewish identity, even if on the outside they were forced to convert to Catholicism.
Israel needs these people, the lost children of Israel, to come back home! No one will be able to stop this move of the One who created the world, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Ya’acov. He promised and He will do it, but sometimes He has to use a donkey like Netivyah, or our brothers in Brazil, in ABRAJIN, to do His work down on Earth.
We at Netivyah, our brothers in Brazil, and our partners in Portugal and around the world, from China to South America, and from Northern Europe to South Africa. We all say like our forefathers, “hineni” – “here I am, use me Lord to be your servant.”
The prayer requests this week are almost the same as they were in the last few months, but I do want to add a special prayer request for our dear brothers and sisters in Korea. We pray every day and every Shabbat: The One who has made peace in the Heavens, He will make peace upon us and let us all say, “Amen.”We love all our brothers and sisters in Korea, and bless them for their faithful service to the Jewish people and to our country, and especially to the Jewish disciples of Yeshua in this land. We understand the difficulties that they face, and we pray for all because we love them all. May all things work for the good of all those who love the Lord.
I ask all of you to mobilize your prayers to pray for the Aliyah and the return of the Anusim both spiritually, outside of the adulterated brands of Christianity, back to the pure waters of God’s word, and also physical Aliyah to the land of our forefathers, the land of Zion, Jerusalem.
Keep Eli Levi in your prayers. He is traveling in the USA visiting his wife’s family. He plans to return to Bulgaria as soon as he can.
Keep Ruby Little in your prayer. She is still having some major issues with the post-chemotherapy treatment.
Please don’t forget to pray for my family and especially for Marcia my dear wife, and Danah and Noaam, and all those on this prayer list – that God will be glorified in their lives and in their healing. Keep Barry, our son, and his family in your prayers.
Keep Elena Litvak, Efim’s widow, in your prayers.
A dear brother and a leader of the Jewish disciples of Yeshua in the United States, Robert (Bob) Weiner, needs us all to lift his name before the Lord God of Israel for healing and strength to go through heart surgery.
We appreciate so much the contributions for the purchase of the van for Netivyah. Almost every week someone is contributing funds for the van. God is answering this prayer need. We need a few more brothers and sisters to make a significant contribution and we will be able to purchase the van and use it for the glory of God, and for the service to the people of Jerusalem and the saints.
Please remember our dear brother Jacob Damkani in your prayers.
Dr. M. Song, from Korea, and his whole family need our prayers.
Pray for Courtney for healing and strength. Keep Um Abu-Eid in your prayers.
Please continue praying for baby Lion from the Huch family in DFW. Little Lion is doing better, but still far from being out of the woods.
Please pray a special prayer for Ann West, a dear sister who has been praying for the salvation of Israel for many years. She is now needing our prayers!
Please continue to pray for our Jewish brother Hillel from Helsinki, and Keijo and Salme in Nokia, and for Tim Tucker, Anne-Mirjami, Satu-Maria and Anna-Majia, Sinni Tuuli, Erki and Sirpa Murto, Evelina, and Eva H.
Pray for Patty, Andrea, and Tineke – and our brothers and sisters in the in the Netherlands that need healing from God.
Continue to pray for Julia and Victor. Pray for our dear sister Paula in Switzerland who needs a divine breakthrough.
Please keep praying for a dear sister named Zhou WenriIan living in China. Please intercede for Pastor Isaac in Chennai. Pastor Isaac needs healing for his kidneys.
I am also asking you to pray for a dear sister Ema! She has a big burden for a big school that she has built in China. Now we beg the Lord to bless Sister Ema and the school and her husband.
Margareta told me recently that she feels the effects of your prayers for her. Today Margareta was taken off all her medication and is feeling good.
Please lift in your prayers the following brothers and sisters who need the LORD’s gracious touch of healing: George, Gary, Melanie, and Aaron Hook and Nancy. Also, our congregation members, Sarit, David S., Gabriela, Ahuva, Leah, Ilana, Hannah, young Gabriela, Zvi D. and Elisheva, and Jonathan B. and his wife Aviva. Our dear sisters Laurel, Orna, Sima, and Aviva. A special prayer is needed for one of my godsons, David B.A. and his family.
These brothers and sisters from around the world who need your prayer and your intercession and healing. Paulo and Naomi, Marcelo’s parents, Curita Sensei, the Abe family, Toru, Takeo Sensei, Daisuke Sensei, Tomoko San, Yumi, and her father and family.
In Hong Kong, we pray and ask you to join us and pray for Louisa and Tony. Keep our dear brother Goh and his family in prayer. In Korea pray for Sister Christy. Please keep Brother Michael Knezevich in prayer. Please add Ismael Alves who lives in Portugal, and Asher Gabriel in Kenya, to your prayers.
I wish all of you, who stand with Israel and who pray for Jerusalem, the best of the Lord’s blessings and the fulfillment of all His promises to His faithful children. Those who hear God and do His will are the ones who are called wise! Those who only hear His word and don’t do it are called foolish! Let us all strive to be wise and never foolish! The best is yet to come!
The Lord God of Israel and the grace of Yeshua our Messiah, King, Teacher, Rabbi, and Lord be with you all!
