from Lisbon, Portugal

This is the last day of our conference in Portugal! Tomorrow, God willing, we are all flying home. We are flying to Jerusalem, the other participants are flying to 12 other countries around the world. Some are flying east and others west.

Participants in this important conference came from 12 countries. China had a very honorable participation. The Philippines, Korea, Holland, United States, Italy, Brazil, Portugal, Israel, Japan, Germany, Spain, and Finland had representatives that came to Portugal especially to be a part of this major prayer tour and conference.

The conference was held in the town of Castelo de Vide, right in the mid-section of Portugal. Castelo de Vide was one of the entrance points where thousand of Jews entered Portugal after the expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492. These refugees from the Spanish Inquisition took advantage of the fact that they can just walk or ride across the border between Spain and Portugal, and escape the cruel hands of the Catholic Church.

However, in just a few short years the kings of Portugal were pushed to turn their kindness into a murderous machine, even more cruel and harsh than the Spanish did. This hunt for those Jews who were forced to convert to Catholicism lasted more than three hundred years. It created such a trauma in the souls of the Jewish people worldwide, and especially in the souls of the Sephardic Jews, that until today the Sephardic Jews remember and sing their pain, especially the older generations.

We thank the town of Castelo de Vide for their hospitality, and for the gracious provision of a totally renewed auditorium that the mayor of the city, Mr. Antonio Pita, and the administration of the city, mobilized to help us and show us hospitality. We thank the former mayor of Castelo de Vide, Mr. Carolino Tapadejod, who guided us and lectured in the conference.

There were many of the leading scholars on this topic who participated and shed light on the horrors and cruelty that the Inquisition used to break the spirit of the Jews. Our brothers from Brazil, who were 100% partners in this movement to restore the Anusim back to their Jewish life and to the land of Israel, made a wonderful contribution to the conference. Especially Dr. Marcelo, his son Matheus, and a large Brazilian team, who cried for the past and showed hope for the future of Aliyah and restoration. To create the cry for the past with hope for the future.

Probably the most impressive part and the most emotional part was the presentations of the politicians and academics who described the authorities and methods of the Catholic Church during the Inquisition. But there was also a strong ray of hope that the came from the changes that the Catholic Church is going through and, together with the Portuguese and Spanish government, is taking action to bless the Jewish dependents of Spain and Portugal and give them citizenship. It is a symbolic act, but a sincere act of confession and a part of the process of repentance.

The conference is a success! It has accomplished the goals of crying out the pain and trauma of the Catholic Inquisition in the soul of the Sephardic Jews until this very day, and sow hope that one day also the State of Israel will open its doors to the Annusim to make Aliyah.

The second half of the conference is a visitation in some of the major places and cities in which the Inquisition was especially cruel and harsh, and tortured and burned Jews. Some of the Jews were burned alive, and others were burned after they died in the chambers of the Inquisition. We visited the cities of Trancoso, Coimbra, Tomar, and Lisbon, and in every place we prayed jointly for the following:

  1. Lord open the hearts of Portugal for confession of what Portugal and the Church did to the Jews who were not guilty of any crime, but were treated as terrible criminals, tortured and killed.
  2. Lord open the hearts of the State of Israel to welcome and accept the immigrants from Portugal and the Latin countries around the world to make Aliyah and rejoin their nation without pressure, but with a clear and great opportunity to restore their Jewish identity fully.
  3. Use this ugly and cruel past history to clean the enmity and still-existing prejudice between Christians and Jews of the Latin World.
  4. Bless the Jews and the Anusim around the world with a clear eye to Zion, not only the physical Zion where the home of the whole nation is panting to return, but also the spiritual Zion that is in need of restoration, according to Israel’s prophets and promises in God’s Word.

The prayer in the synagogue in Tomar and in Coimbra, and in the other places, was extremely emotional, and a pure expression of the hearts of the participants from 12 countries. It was a real outcry for God to take action and motivate Brazil, and Portugal and Spain, and especially Israel, to open their hearts toward the Anusim and their descendants.

I ask all of you to mobilize your prayers to pray for the Aliyah and the return of the Anusim both spiritually, outside of the adulterated brands of Christianity, back to the pure waters of God’s word, and also physical Aliyah to the land of our forefathers, the land of Zion, Jerusalem.

Those who hear God and do His will are the ones who are called wise! Those who only hear His word and don’t do it are called foolish! Let us all strive to be wise and never foolish! The best is yet to come!

The Lord God of Israel, and the grace of Yeshua our Messiah, King, Teacher, Rabbi, and Lord be with you all!
