Today starts the Asian Messianic Forum’s youth “camp” – the Asian Messianic Forum will start on Tuesday. I find it interesting that our Asian brothers planned this Asian Messianic Forum to start on this day of remembrance of the fall of the Jerusalem Temple for the second time.

I am not even assured that they know what the 10th of Av means to the Jewish nation. It is a day of deep sorrow, that we as a nation caused the Almighty God and creator of the universe, who loves us and His world beyond our understanding, to destroy the Temple of Jerusalem twice on the same day, the 9th of Av!

Today every synagogue in Israel will start reading the last book in the Pentateuch (the Torah), the book of Deuteronomy. The first parasha (Torah portion) that starts in Deuteronomy 1:1 and ends in Deuteronomy 3:22.

Moses is standing on the East bank of the Jordan River, just across from Jericho. Probably Jericho is visible from where he is standing. He knows already that he will not cross the Jordan river into the Promised Land. This is the last opportunity that Moses has to summarize his ministry to the people of Israel.

He starts with one of the simplest and most profound statements:

“The Lord our God said to us in Horeb, ‘You have stayed long enough at this mountain.’” – Deuteronomy 1:6 [NKJV]

This small comment on a short verse has opened a new window and opportunity to see God’s word in a very special way. Moses had some hard moments during these 40 years in the wilderness of Sinai.

He had a hard moment with his brother Aaron when coming down the mountain with the two tables of the Torah in his hands. He sees his brother Aaron and the leaders of Israel worshipping an idol, a golden calf, in the middle of the camp of Israel. He had a difficult moment when there was a rebellion in the camp, and one very distinguished family, named Korah, rebelled against Moses and his brother Aaron.

With all the complaints and the faithlessness of the tribes of Israel during these 40 years of wondering the Sinai desert, Moses is addressing the crowd, and he includes the revelation that he received with all of Israel: “The Lord our God said to us in Horeb, ‘You have stayed long enough at this mountain.”

“Us” is inclusive, the revelation and the voice of God might have been heard only by Moses, but Moses does not take the privilege that God gave him that no other prophet received from God.

God said:

“‘Hear my words: If there is a prophet among you, I the Lord make myself known to him in a vision; I speak with him in a dream. Not so with my servant Moses. He is faithful in all my house. With him I speak mouth to mouth, clearly, and not in riddles, and he beholds the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?’ And the anger of the Lord was kindled against them, and he departed.” – Numbers 12:6-9 [ESV]

With all this Moses shares the revelation that he received with the nation of Israel: “The Lord our God said to us in Horeb.” So many leaders both in Judaism and in Christianity love to take credit to themselves, and not share their success with their people who enabled these leaders to build the building or do anything that is big and significant.

The next thing that caught my attention is what God said through Moses to the people of Israel:

“See, I have set the land before you. Go in and take possession of the land that the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give to them and to their offspring after them.’” – Deuteronomy 1:8-10 [ESV]

Even at this great moment, God sees fit to address the giving of the land inhabited by seven idolatrous nations to the nation of Israel as He has promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob…

This promise of God, to give the land between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, is not a promise that expires. It is not a bottle of milk, that if you leave it for a season outside of the refrigerator it will spoil.

God’s promises endure forever. Now Moses repeats this promise to Abraham, and his descendants, that God has and is giving this land to the nation of Israel.

At what time or what date do God’s promises expire? The Arab world today claim that the land of Israel is their land. Many Christians support this idea and are against Israel on the basis of some kind of a humanitarian false value that is totally against the word of God.

I say to all of us who claim faith in God and in His word! God took an oath, He swore, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, that he would give the land of Canaan to Abraham and his descendents forever.

Christians who think that the children of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, not the children of Ishmael, have the right to the land of Canaan, please reread your bibles, or confess that you don’t really believe what the Bible says, what the Lord God of Israel says. If you can’t confess that God’s promises are still in force and have their meaning ratified by the word of God, go worship in Mecca, or in some other location.

I believe that God always means every word that He has given to Israel. Yes, if we continue to read the book of Deuteronomy we will see that there were some hard and difficult moments between Israel and the Lord, and between Moses and Israel, but neither Moses nor the Lord have ever said that God will not keep His promises to Israel and to the world.

The prophets of Israel, almost all of them, repeat this promise of God to Israel, and even during the exile, when God took us out of the land He promised to our forefathers, to pasture in strange fields, with the idea that the day will come that He will return Israel to their land. Here is just one prophecy given to the prophet Ezekiel:

“And I will set my glory among the nations, and all the nations shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid on them. The house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God, from that day forward. And the nations shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity, because they dealt so treacherously with me that I hid my face from them and gave them into the hand of their adversaries, and they all fell by the sword. I dealt with them according to their uncleanness and their transgressions, and hid my face from them. Therefore thus says the Lord God: Now I will restore the fortunes of Jacob and have mercy on the whole house of Israel, and I will be jealous for my holy name. They shall forget their shame and all the treachery they have practiced against me, when they dwell securely in their land with none to make them afraid, when I have brought them back from the peoples and gathered them from their enemies’ lands, and through them have vindicated my holiness in the sight of many nations.” – Ezeiel. 39:21–27 [ESV]

These words of Ezekiel spoken in Babylon in the Diaspora, are like a clear bell that sounds the wake up call to the whole world. But, living in Israel for nearly 72 years, and seeing the miracles almost daily, I can’t deny that everything surrounding Israel is the work of God, a miracle.

I also can’t deny that the State of Israel has made some major mistakes that undermine the work of God, and one of these mistakes is that, as a state, Israel has ignored the Arab population within its borders, and acted with racial prejudice toward them. It was a mistake not to substantiate the democracy of the State of Israel during the 1950s and 1960s.

We have helped the enemy by not providing the same services and privileges to the Arab population within the international borders of the State of Israel. But, I pray that it is not too late, and with these promises of God to Israel there is still opportunity and time to correct. The book of Deuteronomy is for me like a land deed of purchase for the land that God gave Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, as an inheritance forever. Read Genesis 13:15-16, please.

Please pray for the wife of a dear Korean friend who is a student in a university in Israel. Her name is Rachel, Jingyung Lee. She is a mother of little children. She has been diagnosed with breast cancer. This family has had a difficult life, and now this cancer issue is a new challenge.

The wife of a dear friend, who is also young and dealing with cancer, sister Yukizawa. Keep our dear sister Tiz H. in your prayers, she too has just gone through surgery for cancer and is getting chemotherapeutic treatment. When I look at this list I see that there are others that we are praying for, like Ruby L., who was the first secretary of Netivyah, right in the very beginning of Netivyah in the early 1980s, and others.

Please continue to pray for the whole Stern family in Jerusalem, David and Martha, and Daniel their son, and his family too.

Keep Noaam, our granddaughter, in your prayers. Keep Joseph Shulam, our grandson, also in your prayers. They are both 16 years old and starting their junior year in high school.

He is in his last days, and Marcia and the whole Saunders family need our prayers and God’s mercy. Especially keep Marcia focused and strong to be able to help and support whatever the Lord does for her father.

Nothing has changed in Israel’s political scene. All is the same, and the politicians continue each in his own nasty style and rhetorical dog bites. Israel needs your prayers these days more than on other normal days. The repetition of the general election seems to be scrambling every political party, and the mix and match game is in full speed. I pray that all our politicians will lift up their eyes and see what God has promised our Israeli nation, and trust God for the fulfillment of His promises.

The Middle East is still hearing drums of war between Israel and Iran, and Israel and the Hamas in Gaza. The situation is extremely serious and needs for every disciple of Yeshua, and everyone who believes the bible, to pray and pray and pray for the Lord of all to intervene in only the way that He can intervene, to stop this serious deterioration in the relationships in the Middle East.

Please be praying for our dear sister Emma in China, and add to your prayers a dear sister called Deborah Ruth who also lives in Beijing, China. Add to these specific prayers also special prayers for all our brothers and sisters in China who are followers of the Messiah. They are going through some not-so-simple times.

Keep Netivyah in your prayers. We need your prayers and your support. Remember that what happens in Israel, in that small sliver of a country between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea, is going to affect and set the tone for the salvation of Israel, but also for the salvation of the world. Remember that more than ¾ of the world is still totally pagan, idol-worshipping. I bless the brothers and sisters from around the world who love God, love Yeshua, and love Israel, and sacrifice for God’s kingdom and for the work of the Lord in Israel.

Please make an effort to join Netivyah’s 40th anniversary tour and seminar in November 2019. Our intention is to have one big tourist bus that holds 55 people. The numbers are approaching the limits, and I urge you that if you are interested to attend, you should be immediately registering and making your financial deposits. Time is getting very short, dear brothers, if you would like to take part in this very special time in the land of Israel, with unusual and special events that will inspire and refresh and encourage and bless you from the land of Israel, and from fellowship with Netivyah, please act quick and register and send your deposits as soon as you can.

I ask all of you to mobilize your prayers to pray for the Aliyah and the return of the Anussim, both spiritually, outside of the adulterated brands of Christianity, back to the pure waters of God’s word, and also physically, to the land of our forefathers, the land of Zion, Jerusalem.

Please don’t forget to pray for my family, and especially for Marcia my dear wife, and Danah and Noaam, and Barry, Beth, Joey, and all those on this prayer list – that God will be glorified in their lives and in their healing.

Keep Elena Litvak, Efim’s widow, in your prayers, and sister Altamiro from Belo-Horizonte who also lost her dear husband Dr. Altamiro. Our brother Bob Weiner is still in need of our prayers. Please remember our dear brother Jacob Damkani in your prayers.

Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Korea. I just came from Korea to Bangkok for the youth camp and for the Asian Messianic Forum. I had a good discussion with Dr. M. Song and with the others who have formed the “Israel Forum.” They are all dear and special brothers and sisters, and I believe that Satan is attacking all the friends of Israel, and now especially in Korea.

This situation there is a real spiritual warfare issue. Please keep in prayer KIBI and the Israel Forum, and so many men and women of God who love the God of Israel and the Messiah of Israel, and have been praying for Israel so many years, and supporting good works in Israel.

These are precious brothers and sisters who love God and love Israel. I pray that the Lord will reconcile his children and reunite them with one purpose, that is prayer and support of Israel, and especially the local Jewish disciples of Yeshua the Messiah in the land of Israel. I ask you to pray especially for the board members of KIBI, who have invested their lives and their money in this pro-Israel organization in Korea.

Please keep the whole Abu-Eid family in your prayers. Please continue praying for baby Lion from the Huch family in DFW.

Please pray a special prayer for Anna West (she is 99 years old and continues praying for the salvation of Israel daily). You can also include Ann’s dear son Roger and his family in your prayers.

This prayer list is very special because we are not only praying for the physically sick brothers and sisters. We are praying for healthy brothers and sisters who are a blessing in God’s Kingdom, but they need that extra “what do you call it” to succeed and become a bigger blessing for the Lord and His kingdom.

In Hong Kong, we pray and ask you to join us and pray for Louisa and Tony. Keep our dear brother Goh and his family in your prayers. In Korea pray for Sister Christy. Please keep brother Michael Knezevich in prayer. Please add to your prayers Ismael Alves who lives in Portugal, and Asher Gabriel in Kenya.

I wish all of you, who stand with Israel and who pray for Jerusalem, the best of the Lord’s blessings and the fulfillment of all His promises to His faithful children. Those who hear God and do His will are the ones who are called wise! Those who only hear His word and don’t do it are called foolish! Let us all strive to be wise and never foolish! The best is yet to come!

The Lord God of Israel and the grace of Yeshua our Messiah, King, Teacher, Rabbi, and Lord be with you all!
