The Jerusalem Prayer List – July 2, 2009
The United States Constitution Bill of Rights guarantees: “the enjoyment of life and liberty, with the means of acquiring and possessing property, and pursuing and obtaining happiness and safety.” This is a pretty big bill to fill under any circumstances. There is so much frustration built up in our modern life style and society when we expand the majority of our resources to obtain and pursue happiness. Pursuing happiness is like chasing the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. The more you chase it and pursue it the more it runs away from you. Here are some Biblical principles and secrets of where our happiness lies:
Deut. 33:29 “Happyare you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD, The shield of your help And the sword of your majesty! Your enemies shall submit to you, And you shall tread down their high places.” 2Chr. 9:7 “Happyare your men and happyare these your servants, who stand continually before you and hear your wisdom!” Psa. 128:2 “When you eat the labor of your hands, You shall be happy, and it shall be well with you.” Psa. 146:5 “Happyis he who has the God of Jacob for his help, Whose hope is in the LORD his God.” Prov. 3:13 “Happyis the man who finds wisdom, And the man who gains understanding;” Prov. 28:14 “Happyis the man who is always reverent, But he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity.” Prov. 29:18 “Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; But happyis he who keeps the law.” Acts 26:2 “I think myself happy, King Agrippa, because today I shall answer for myself before you concerning all the things of which I am accused by the Jews.”
If I would expand to the word “Rejoice” we would find in the New Testament teachings like this one: 1Pet. 4:13 “But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.”
I think that we the Jewish Disciples of Yeshua the Messiah ought to learn and exercise our lives to the tune of the real source of happiness and that is to see our lives dedicated to serve God and to make sure that our children walk in the faith. For me one of the greatest sources of happiness is to see my children in the faith and those whom God has given me walking with the Almighty and bearing fruit and children themselves.
I ask you to continually pray for the Peace of Jerusalem and for the poor of Jerusalem. We continue to feed the poor of Jerusalem to the maximum number that our finances allow us, and we continue to find it so difficult to turn people who come asking for “bread” down and tell them to come again in a month or two months. It is truly a very difficult thing to stand before an old and sick man who says that his refrigerator is empty and tell him to come back in a month many be we would be able to help him. We are stretching the paper that says, “In God We Trust” so much that Benjamin Franklin’s face now looks like Jabba the Hutt from the movie Star Wars. We are also thankful and fortunate that we have brothers and sisters who love God and love Israel and Jerusalem and really do what they can to keep Netivyah’s soup-kitchen going. May God bless them one and all!
We have published the “Hidden Treasure” book in Hebrew and we are sharing this important book with our brothers and sisters in the Hebrew Speaking World. We are also translating the “Teaching from Zion” to Hebrew and getting ready to publish another Hebrew Teaching from Zion magazine. Those of you who read the Teaching from Zion and receive it free of subscription fees ought to help us publish it in Hebrew for the benefit of the Jewish Hebrew Speaking and reading disciples of Yeshua.
Marcia and my time in Finland was very blessed because our dear brothers and sisters in Finland are alive in the faith and anxious to serve bless God and Israel with zeal that is enviable by all who know them. We were received as messengers of God and treated with hospitality and warmth that is just about second to none. We love our brothers and sisters everywhere and especially in Finland. May God bless them all with good health and with prosperity to do His holy will in all things.
This next week-end I shall be in Dallas with my and Netivyah’s friends. I ask you all to pray for me and for all those whom I shall serve in Dallas with the Word of God. I need energy and good health and strength to speak the Word of the Lord with love to all of Netivyah’s friends in Dallas and next week in Portland, Oregon.
We have every reason in this world and in the next world to rejoice and be happy in the Lord who saved us, but at times there is sufferings in the flesh involved in our lives. We want to lift up those who suffer from ill health.
We have all those older generation brothers and sisters in Jerusalem who suffer from a variety of old age illnesses: Ahuva, Liora, Lea, Sara, Zvi, Sarit, Miriam, and Marcia. We also have some with serious illnesses who are friends and members of family to our brothers and sisters, Aggi and Sharon who are suffering. We pray for brothers and sisters in other parts of the world, Ruby, Paulo, Kemi, Lynn our dear friend in Texas. God is our healer in every case and even when the wonder of modern medical technology is used by doctors it is still God who gives every cell of our body and every microbe or virus life. We call upon God to have mercy on our sick brothers and sisters and friends and we believe and trust that His mercy and love endures even in the worst of our times and in the best of our time here on this His Earth.
To all of you who want to find happiness – take a concordance and look up every passage of God’s Word that deals with Happiness and Rejoicing and being blessed – you will find the only formula that works – God’s own formula! All the other teachings and formulas for happiness don’t lead you very far or for very long – God’s is eternal.
Love, Faith and Hope! These three go together, but remember that the greatest of these three is Love!
